YouTube has announced stricter requirements for joining its YouTube Partner Program (YPP), 20 years after its launch and with over 3 million creators participating. However, existing creators in the program will not be affected by these changes and will continue to benefit from its advantages as usual. Those wishing to join the program will have to achieve higher numbers than before. For longer videos, the required watch time will increase to 8,000 hours from 4,000. Shorts content creators will need to achieve 20 million views within 20 days, compared to 10 million previously.Additionally, the platform will require a minimum of 10 million views for Shorts videos within 90 days for channels wishing to display ads and participate in the revenue-sharing program. If views fall below this threshold, the platform will temporarily suspend revenue sharing, while the channel will continue to earn revenue from longer-form videos. YouTube will automatically re-enable ads and revenue sharing once the channel surpasses the 10 million views within 90 days threshold again.
