Anthropic and OpenAI recently launched new, lower-cost artificial intelligence models just hours apart, days after executives from both companies urged caution in developing the technology.

According to Agence France-Presse, Anthropic stated that its new Opus 5.5 model approaches the performance of its flagship Vibel model at a significantly lower cost.

Following this, OpenAI announced the launch of the GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna models, asserting that they perform tasks significantly better than Anthropic's most powerful models.

These new models are faster and less expensive versions of the GPT-6 Astra, OpenAI's most powerful model, which was released earlier this month.
