Thanks to Apple Intelligence, the power of artificial intelligence is evident in everyday tasks..

Today at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, Apple announced the next generation of its artificial intelligence, Apple Intelligence. Powered by a new, advanced architecture that deeply integrates Apple’s latest models into its operating systems, and designed specifically to protect user privacy, it makes the apps and experiences users rely on daily across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple Vision Pro more personalized and useful than ever before.

Apps become smarter and more useful with powerful editing capabilities in the Photos app, intelligent tools to personalize the browsing experience in Safari, enhanced security with the Passwords app, an all-new version of the Photos app that enables the creation of hyper-realistic images, and much more. Many of these features allow users to simply describe what they’re looking for, making it easier to accomplish what matters most. These features are available for developer testing starting today and will be available to users this fall.

In this regard, Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, said:

“Our mission at Apple has always been to transform the potential and advancements of technology into useful and easy-to-use products for everyone, especially these days. For AI to truly benefit our users, it must be grounded in their needs, deeply integrated into the products they rely on daily, and built on personalization, with privacy in mind at every step. This is our vision for the core of Apple Intelligence. With helpful features for web browsing, unleashing creativity, editing photos, and much more, today marks a significant step forward in our journey to integrate powerful AI into the heart of our platforms and make our products more personal and useful.”

The new Siri AI personal assistant also helps power the next generation of Apple Intelligence. Siri AI is an all-new version of Siri. It is a more personalized, efficient, and interactive assistant, available in a new dedicated app, along with integrated writing and visual intelligence tools across different platforms.

Siri can help users find information in their messages, emails, photos, and more. It can answer questions on virtually any topic and perform actions within apps. Siri AI features are available for developer testing starting today, with a public beta rollout planned for later this year.

Siri AI will be available as a public beta later this year for users with a supported device set to English, and Apple will quickly expand support to more languages. Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro users in the European Union will have access to Siri AI when their devices are set to a supported language. Siri AI will not initially be available on iOS and iPadOS in the EU. Siri AI and other new Apple Intelligence features will not be available in China until Apple fulfills regulatory requirements.

New ways to edit photos: The Photos app leverages more powerful AI image models, allowing users to make stunning edits while preserving the authenticity of the captured moment. Photos edited with Apple Intelligence will automatically include a hidden SynthID watermark to identify AI-generated images.

Using Spatial Reframing, users can refine their image composition after capturing a photo. Leveraging Apple's deep understanding of spatial relationships, developed with Apple Vision Pro, users can touch and drag images to see how the perspective changes in real time, as if they had repositioned the camera within the original scene. Using powerful image models, Spatial Reframing only creates new content when the perspective changes, ensuring the reframed image remains consistent with the original scene.

Users can also expand images using the Extend tool to give elements in the image more space. For example, they can straighten a skewed horizon without cropping any important elements or adjusting the aspect ratio, and the Extend feature will fill in the missing parts. Additionally, the popular Cleanup tool has received a significant upgrade, allowing users to remove distracting elements with better quality and more realistic fill, even in complex scenes.

New smart tools for browsing in Safari and an upgrade to the Passwords app, powered by Apple Intelligence, are transforming how users browse the web in Safari. Safari's intelligence features are designed with privacy in mind, providing powerful capabilities without disclosing personal browsing data to any third party, including Apple.

Safari can now simplify browsing across multiple tabs by automatically organizing and grouping a user's tabs into related topics. For example, if a user is planning a weekend trip, Safari can group all tabs related to the trip planning into a single topic. While browsing, Safari will continue to organize new tabs into existing topics or create new ones.

With the "Notify Me" feature, users can ask Safari to monitor web pages for changes, such as product restocks or price drops, keeping them informed about updates that matter to them. Users can also tell Safari what they're looking for, and when it detects a change on that web page, they'll receive a notification so they can take action.

Moving on to the Passwords app, building on its ability to alert users about weak and compromised passwords, the Passwords app can now automatically fix these passwords for users with a single click.

Using Apple Intelligence and Safari to take action on the user's behalf, the Passwords app securely navigates websites to log in and upgrade user accounts to strong passwords.

With the "Describe an Extension" feature, users can create custom extensions for Safari simply by describing what they want. Safari then creates the custom extension directly in the toolbar, such as adding a button to save and rate recipes the user has tried.

Ultra-realistic images with the all-new Image Playground app. Image Playground offers users powerful new ways to transform their imagination into visual images. They can create high-quality images in almost any style, now including ultra-realistic images, thanks to a new generative model powered by private cloud computing. This represents a radical shift in image generation across different platforms. The automatically generated images will include a hidden SynthID watermark to identify them as AI-generated.
