Brigadier Al-Adwani: Electronic Monitoring for Taxis, Ride-Hailing, and Transport Vehicles

Brigadier Al-Adwani: Electronic Monitoring to Be Introduced for Taxis, Delivery, Rental, and Public Transport Vehicles

Brigadier Khaled Al-Adwani, Assistant Director General of the General Traffic Department for Coordination and Education at the Ministry of Interior, announced that the department intends to introduce an electronic monitoring system for taxis, consumer delivery vehicles, car rental services, and public transport in the near future. The system aims to monitor driving behavior on roads, detect traffic violations, and issue citations automatically.

This announcement was made during a press conference held on Monday to unveil the National Forum for Transport and Smart Services, organized in cooperation with the General Traffic Department and attended by representatives of the private sector. Al-Adwani explained that the new system will rely on artificial intelligence technologies, enabling traffic violations to be recorded electronically the moment they occur, thereby enhancing traffic discipline and improving road safety levels.

He further confirmed that citizens will be involved in consumer goods and food delivery applications through order and meal delivery services. He noted that the new monitoring system for taxis, delivery vehicles, trucks, public transport, and daily rental cars will represent an integrated surveillance and control framework aimed at protecting society from negative practices and serving as a supporting tool in tracking offenders and perpetrators of violations.

Al-Adwani also stated that the forum seeks to enhance traffic safety and support the development of the transport and smart services ecosystem in line with Kuwait Vision 2035. He emphasized that the forum will serve as a national dialogue platform bringing together government entities, delivery companies, shared mobility providers, technology suppliers, and experts to discuss common challenges, regulate the light transport and delivery sector, and produce practical, actionable recommendations.

He concluded by stressing that traffic safety is a shared responsibility that cannot be achieved through legislation alone or technology alone, but rather through integrated efforts, driver awareness, institutional commitment, and the vital role of the media as a key partner in promoting traffic safety culture.
