GCC Secretary-General Welcomes Peace Agreement Between Rwanda and DRC..

His Excellency Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed on Sunday the peace agreement signed between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), praising the mediation efforts undertaken by the United States and Qatar.

In an official statement, Al-Budaiwi:

  • Expressed hope that the agreement would end tensions and fulfill the aspirations of both nations for security and stability

  • Highlighted its potential to foster prosperity and development in the region while enhancing regional and international peace

  • Applauded the GCC's growing role in supporting peaceful solutions and promoting global security

Agreement Details:
The DRC and Rwanda signed the peace deal on Friday in Washington, D.C., ending months of armed conflict in eastern Congo's mineral-rich region. The signing ceremony at the U.S. State Department was attended by:
