The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed on Sunday the signing of a "Declaration of Principles" between the governments of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda in the U.S. capital, Washington.

In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the signing of the "agreement of principles" as an important step toward achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace agreement between the two countries. This agreement would strengthen security, stability, and prosperity in the Great Lakes region and the African continent.

The Kingdom affirmed its support and appreciation for regional and international diplomatic mediation efforts to resolve conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means, thereby enhancing international peace and security.

The U.S. Department of State hosted the signing of the "Declaration of Principles" between the governments of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda last Friday, as part of diplomatic efforts to end violence in eastern Congo and achieve peace between the two nations.
