The match was decided in the second half of extra time after the regulation 90 minutes ended in a 2-2 draw. Barcelona took an early lead with a goal from young star Pedri in the 28th minute of the first half, which ended 1-0.

In the second half, Real Madrid equalized through French forward Kylian Mbappé in the 70th minute, before Aurélien Tchouaméni put Los Blancos ahead seven minutes later. However, Ferran Torres quickly leveled the score for Barça in the 84th minute, forcing extra time.

The match was ultimately decided in the 116th minute when Barcelona's French defender Jules Koundé scored the winning goal. With this victory, Barcelona denied Real Madrid their 21st Copa del Rey title, further increasing pressure on manager Carlo Ancelotti following their Champions League elimination by Arsenal and their second-place standing in La Liga—four points behind Barça with just five matches remaining.

This marks Barcelona’s second trophy of the season at the expense of their eternal rivals, having previously beaten Real Madrid in January’s Spanish Super Cup final.
