Minister of Public Works Announces Commencement of Major Maintenance Works on Key Road in Al-Aqeelah Area Under New Contracts..

Kuwait's Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan announced on Monday the commencement of comprehensive rehabilitation works on Mohammed Saif Al-Barrak Main Road in Al-Aqeelah area, as part of new major maintenance contracts for highways and internal roads. These contracts include 18 major tenders for road maintenance across all six governorates of Kuwait.

In an official statement, Dr. Al-Mashaan explained that road maintenance work will begin in the most damaged areas first, then proceed to less affected zones, with full supervision and monitoring by Ministry work teams. A special committee has been formed to select and test supervising engineers to ensure proper project management.

The Minister emphasized the continuation of road maintenance projects in all regions while strictly adhering to quality assurance and international specifications. She noted that infrastructure investment boosts economic growth, improves quality of life, and supports sustainable development.

Talal Al-Hujailan, supervisor of Contract 15 (Zone 1) in Ahmadi Governorate, stated that Ministry teams are currently on-site at Mohammed Saif Al-Barrak Main Road to monitor progress under the new comprehensive road maintenance contracts.

"Current work involves laying a 6cm Type 2 base layer, with a 5cm Type 3 surface layer scheduled for tomorrow," Al-Hujailan added.

Abdullah Al-Kandari, an engineer at the Ministry of Public Works, confirmed that comprehensive maintenance will continue on major roads including Road 245, with upcoming work scheduled in:

  • Munqaf Area (Section 4)

  • Fahad Al-Ahmad (Section 1)

  • Al-Aqeelah (Section 1)
    over the coming weeks.
