Three car companies operating in Egypt have submitted applications to the Ministry of Industry to begin exporting their products to foreign markets during the last quarter of this year, according to a government official who spoke to Asharq Bloomberg on condition of anonymity. The official added that the companies aim to export between 10,000 and 30,000 cars in the first year, with exports gradually increasing in subsequent years to reach the ultimate target of 100,000 cars annually by 2030. The companies' requests come at a time when Egypt's exports of cars and their components rose by about 15% last year to $1.272 billion. They continued to grow during the first four months of 2026, increasing by 13.1% to $434.6 million, compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Engineering Export Council.
