The design of the Ferrari Luce electric car is sparking widespread debate among fans of the brand..

For nearly 80 years, Ferrari has held a unique position as the epitome of luxury automobiles, coveted by even those who can't afford them. However, with the launch of its new electric Luce, the company has faced unprecedented criticism for its design and exorbitant price tag of over $640,000, at a time of widening economic inequality and growing resentment towards ostentatious displays of wealth.

The Luce boasts an exterior design that departs from Ferrari's traditional sharp lines, featuring a sleek profile and expansive dimensions that make it the longest car the company has ever produced. It is equipped with four electric motors delivering a combined output of 1,035 horsepower and offers an electric range of approximately 500 km. It is also Ferrari's first five-passenger vehicle and features a stylish glass cabin within an aluminum body.

The design was developed in collaboration with renowned designers Jony Ive and Marc Newson of LoveFrom, who attempted to blend digital and traditional touches in the interior. However, many experts believe the interior design language is more akin to small luxury city cars like the Fiat 500, and unsuitable for a supercar at this price point.
