Samsung expects the RAM shortage crisis to worsen next year..

The RAM market is facing a severe shortage, leading to price hikes in many devices, including mobile phones and portable gaming consoles. During a recent earnings call, Samsung predicted this crisis would persist into next year and could even worsen due to increased demand from artificial intelligence data centers.

Kim Jaejune, executive director of Samsung's memory chip business, explained that current supply is far below demand, and that the gap between supply and demand will widen further in 2027 compared to 2026, based on current demand.

Samsung's forecast comes after reports indicated that the world's largest RAM manufacturers may not be able to meet demand until 2030. The crisis could worsen if Samsung fails to reach an agreement with the workers' union, which is planning an 18-day strike starting on May 21.
