Kuwait's Ambassador to China: Innovation and Technology at the Heart of Kuwait's New Vision 2035
Kuwait's Ambassador to China, Jassem Al-Najem, stated on Thursday that innovation and technology are at the heart of Kuwait's New Vision 2035.
This came in Ambassador Al-Najem's speech during the High-Level Dialogue on Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation, held as part of the 7th China-Arab States Expo under the theme "Innovation... Green Development and Prosperity."
Ambassador Al-Najem affirmed Kuwait's commitment to innovation and its strategic partnership with China, considering this session an opportunity to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the fields of technology and the green economy.
He added that a resource-based economy is no longer sufficient to ensure sustainable prosperity, explaining that the State of Kuwait has launched a series of ambitious initiatives and projects in this field in cooperation with China.
Ambassador Al-Najem clarified that Kuwait has launched many projects with China, such as the "Shagaya Renewable Energy Project," the "Kuwait Digital 2035 Initiative," in addition to the Research Institute for Water Desalination, Energy, and Waste Treatment project, Kuwait University's artificial intelligence projects, and the establishment of specialized laboratories to support the development of smart cities.
He considered that these projects embody Kuwait's serious commitment to transitioning towards a knowledge economy and reflect the spirit of cooperation with China.
Ambassador Al-Najem mentioned that Kuwait was the guest of honor at the first session of the China-Arab States Expo in 2013, which confirms Kuwait's status as a key partner in the journey of Chinese-Arab cooperation and reflects the Expo's growing position as a major platform for Sino-Arab cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
He added that Kuwait's recent accession as a founding member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a strategic step to support investments in smart infrastructure projects, sustainable energy, and digital technologies.
The events of the 7th session launched on Thursday in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with the participation of approximately 18,000 attendees from 75 countries. This session is the first to see participation from all Arab states, with the United Arab Emirates participating as this year's guest of honor.
