A Kuwaiti sports official confirmed on Wednesday that the participation of the Kuwaiti junior national athletics team (boys and girls) in the 11th Arab Championships is part of the federation's plan to prepare a promising generation of champions capable of raising the name of Kuwait high in continental and international forums.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of the conclusion of the championship hosted by Tunisia, Farooq Al-Sha'er, a member of the board of directors of the Kuwait Athletics Federation and the director of the Kuwait junior national athletics team (boys and girls), said that the federation was keen on providing all means of support for the male and female athletes, including training camps and technical and administrative preparations worthy of this important Arab event.

He added, "We are confident that our sons and daughters will do their utmost to achieve the best results and honor Kuwaiti sports."

He also affirmed that this participation represents a fundamental milestone in building the future of Kuwaiti athletics by refining young talents and giving them the necessary experience for competition, as the team was bolstered with players from the youth category to gain experience, compete, and participate with champions from various Arab countries.

He considered that the Kuwait national team players achieved a distinguished accomplishment for Kuwaiti athletics in this championship, as the junior team (boys and girls) managed to win 3 gold medals in the high jump by Mohammed Al-Duwaij, the 800 meters by Abdullatif Faisal, and the women's high jump by Yasmin Roy, in addition to two bronze medals by Abdulrahman Al-Azmi in the long jump and Mahdi Al-Sabbagh in the pole vault.

He explained, "We dedicate this achievement to His Highness the Amir of the country, His Highness the Crown Prince, and the Kuwaiti people," extending his thanks to the Sports Authority for its support of the federation and the junior athletes in particular.
