Ambassador Najeeb Al-Bader, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Affairs, presided over a meeting of senior officials from the foreign ministries of the GCC member states on Thursday, concerning supporting and enhancing frameworks for cooperation with the Syrian Arab Republic.
Following the conclusion of the meeting, which was held via video conference, Ambassador Al-Bader told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the meeting embodies the spirit of shared responsibility and the collective keenness of the (Cooperation) Council states to follow the latest developments in the situation in brotherly Syria. It simultaneously affirms the steadfastness of their firm positions in supporting the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people and enhancing security, stability, and development for all the peoples of the region.
He added that the GCC states have spared no effort in providing support to the Syrian people, having been at the forefront of responding to their humanitarian and relief needs. They have also adopted clear political positions that supported international efforts to preserve Syria's unity and sovereignty and enhance its security and stability, as reflected in the successive decisions issued by the GCC Ministerial Council.
He indicated that today's meeting is a continuation of these efforts and an implementation of the decision of the Ministerial Council at its 164th session, hosted by the State of Kuwait last June. That decision emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation frameworks with Syria and developing more effective mechanisms to support the Syrian people, contributing to rebuilding state institutions, restoring economic and social life cycles, and alleviating the suffering of the Syrians.
Ambassador Al-Bader clarified that during the meeting, the GCC states affirmed their determination to continue every possible effort in cooperation with regional and international partners to enhance tracks of cooperation with Syria in various fields, particularly in economic, developmental, and investment aspects, to achieve common goals and aspirations.
