Syrian News Agency Reveals Foreign Minister's Meeting with Israeli Delegation in Paris

DAMASCUS – The Syrian news agency revealed on Tuesday that Syrian Foreign Minister Aseed Shibani met in the French capital, Paris, with a delegation from Israel to discuss a number of files related to enhancing stability in the region and in southern Syria.

The agency stated that the discussions focused on de-escalation, non-interference in Syrian internal affairs, reaching understandings that support regional stability, monitoring the ceasefire in As-Suwayda province, and reactivating the 1974 agreement (referring to the Agreement on Disengagement between Israeli and Syrian forces).

It clarified that these discussions are taking place through American mediation as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in Syria and preserving its territorial unity and integrity.

Minister Shibani had previously met in Jordan on August 12 with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, and the U.S. Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Bruck. The meeting explored ways to enhance trilateral cooperation and coordination to serve Syria's stability, sovereignty, and regional security.

An agreement was also reached to form a (Syrian-Jordanian-American) working group to support the Syrian government's efforts in reinforcing the ceasefire in As-Suwayda province and working towards a comprehensive solution to the crisis.
