France warns of "disaster" in case of military occupation of northern Gaza..

France declared that Israel's announced military occupation of northern Gaza would constitute a "catastrophe" and "reckless escalation" if implemented.

In an official statement, the French Foreign Ministry recalled that signatories to the New York Call during July's UN conference had "endorsed deploying a temporary international stabilization mission to ensure security for both Israelis and Palestinians while advancing the two-state solution."

The statement revealed that President Emmanuel Macron has initiated coordination with international partners and the UN to establish this proposed mission. The force would operate as a UN Security Council-mandated international coalition led by regional partners.

Paris emphasized this initiative would represent "a credible step toward ending the ongoing war and building lasting peace." It stressed Gaza's future must be framed within a Palestinian state under Palestinian Authority leadership, reaffirming France's commitment to the two-state solution as the only path to sustainable peace.

France demanded:

  • An immediate ceasefire leading to permanent cessation of hostilities

  • Condemnation of Israel's airstrike killing a journalist team in Gaza

  • Unrestricted access for international journalists to document conditions

A separate statement denounced Israel's lethal airstrike on journalists, noting with "deep concern" that over 200 media professionals have been killed since the conflict began. France reiterated its commitment to press freedom and demanded Israel guarantee journalist safety per international humanitarian law.

The Government Media Office in Gaza reported Monday six journalists killed in an Israeli strike on their shelter, bringing the total journalist fatalities since Israel's military operation began to 238.
