Al-Arabi defeats Maldives' Maziya 4-0 in the AFC Challenge League playoff matches..

Al-Arabi Football Club secured an important 4-0 victory over hosts Maziya Sports of the Maldives on Tuesday in the AFC Challenge League playoff match at the Maldives National Stadium.

Al-Arabi opened the scoring early, with their professional player Ivala netting the first goal in the 3rd minute after a powerful strike following a right-wing attack. His teammate Ngoy added the second in the 41st minute, converting a strong finish from a cross to give Al-Arabi a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Al-Arabi left no chance for a comeback. Christopher John scored the third goal in the 54th minute after a solo effort, further solidifying their dominance. The fourth goal came in the 88th minute when Hussein Ashkanani fired a powerful shot past the goalkeeper following an assist from Yousef Majed, sealing a 4-0 clean-sheet victory.

This match marked Al-Arabi’s first official game of the 2025/2026 season under their new Portuguese head coach, Marco Alves, who replaced Kuwaiti manager Nasser Al-Shatti.
