Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Thursday that "Turkey will continue to stand by the Syrian people and support their legitimate will and aspirations."
The announcement came via a post on X (formerly Twitter), where Fidan noted this marked his third visit to Damascus since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime late last year.
Progress in Syria:
Fidan observed "significant progress" in multiple sectors during his visits.
Pledged to "deepen Turkey-Syria cooperation in all fields" under the leadership of Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Ahmed al-Shara.
Bilateral Discussions:
Met with Syrian President al-Shara to discuss trade, investment, transportation, energy, and regional reconstruction efforts.
Emphasized security cooperation, addressing internal and external threats to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Counterterrorism & Regional Stability:
"Turkey will continue supporting Syria in its fight against terrorist organizations."
Offered assistance in managing security and administration of camps in northeast Syria.
Condemned Israeli "targeting activities" in Syria, calling them "destabilizing policies" requiring international response.
