Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, Director of Public Relations and Media at the General Fire Force (GFF), revealed that firefighters responded to 1,304 fire incidents in residential and non-residential areas across all governorates during the first half of 2025.
Total incidents handled: 1,648 fire accidents
Rescue operations: 3,532
False alarms (goodwill reports): 2,538
Fatalities (drowning/recovery cases): 18 (14 handled by GFF, 4 referred to other authorities)
Hawalli: 215 reports
Mubarak Al-Kabeer: 202
Ahmadi: 195
Farwaniya: 183
Capital Governorate: 171
Jahra: 147
Electrical overload: 118 incidents
Children playing with flammable materials/heat sources: 169
Intentional/semi-intentional fires: 159
Brig. Gen. Al-Gharib emphasized the GFF’s proactive and integrated emergency response plan, which enabled rapid containment of incidents while ensuring public safety. He praised the force’s high operational efficiency and adherence to global firefighting and rescue standards.
The official urged community cooperation by following safety guidelines, including:
✅ Immediate reporting of emergencies
✅ Regular checks of electrical wiring
❌ Avoiding overloading sockets or using damaged cables
He warned that electrical faults remain a major fire hazard, especially in summer due to increased power grid strain from high AC usage.
