On Tuesday, His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco expressed his sincere gratitude to the United Kingdom and Portugal for their support of the Autonomy Initiative as the only solution to settle the territorial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

In a speech marking the 26th anniversary of his accession to the throne, King Mohammed VI stated: "We value the growing international support for the Autonomy Initiative as the sole solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara." He added that "the constructive positions of the United Kingdom and Portugal reinforce support for the Moroccan Initiative within the framework of Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara and strengthen the positive stances of many countries worldwide."

The monarch emphasized his country's commitment to "finding a consensual solution where there are no winners or losers - one that preserves the dignity of all parties and serves security and stability in the region."
