Malaysia: The Israeli occupation's airstrikes on Damascus are a blatant violation of international law..

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim condemned on Thursday the Israeli occupation's airstrikes on the Syrian capital, Damascus, describing them as a "blatant violation of international law" and of the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and the Israeli occupation.

In a statement, Ibrahim said these strikes came after years of suffering by the Syrian people, stressing that Syria "deserves peace, not more bloodshed or foreign interference." He affirmed Malaysia's solidarity with the Syrian people and called for an immediate halt to these violations, urging adherence to humanitarian principles and the rule of law.

He clarified that "the issue is not just a breach of law but also a threat to regional and humanitarian stability," emphasizing that his country "will not limit itself to condemnation but will continue supporting any international efforts to stop the aggression and protect innocent civilians in Syria."

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry announced yesterday the postponement of Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad's planned visit to Malaysia, originally scheduled for July 16-17, due to "unforeseen circumstances." The ministry urged media outlets to withhold or retract any related information until a new date is confirmed, assuring that details would be announced in due course.
