The General Directorate of Counter-Terrorism in Iraq's Kurdistan Region announced on Monday the downing of an armed drone near Erbil International Airport, with no casualties or damage reported.

In a statement, the Directorate confirmed that "in the early hours of dawn today, an explosive-laden drone was intercepted near the airport without causing any human or material losses."

It is noteworthy that Erbil Airport and surrounding military bases have previously faced similar attacks using drones or missiles.

Moreover, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has recently witnessed multiple missile and drone attacks, including the downing of two drones earlier this month.
