The Traditional Moroccan Craftsman’s Hands… Turning Copper into Artistic Masterpieces Embodying Authenticity and Creativity..

In the Brassmakers' Square of Fes' ancient medina in northern Morocco, small workshops resembling artisan ateliers are scattered throughout. Inside, skilled craftsmen—who have inherited the centuries-old tradition of copper craftsmanship—patiently transform this malleable metal with their hands into exquisite works of art, embodying the very essence of heritage and creativity.

Among these workshops, which draw the eyes of visitors and tourists wandering through the alleys and squares of the old city, is the atelier of artisan Mohamed Moustachir. From sheets of copper, he meticulously crafts shapes, patterns, and artifacts that captivate celebrities and dignitaries alike—many of whom visit his workshop seeking a unique handcrafted souvenir or a custom copper piece to gift or cherish as a keepsake.

The lifelong dedication of these master artisans has played a vital role in preserving the authenticity and history of this traditional craft, which dates back nearly eight centuries.
