Spain's national broadcaster RTVE reported today that a forest fire in northeastern Spain has destroyed over 1,500 hectares of woodland and continues to spread due to strong winds.
The wildfire, which broke out Monday in Tarragona province (Catalonia), is advancing rapidly with winds reaching 80 km/h (50 mph), particularly affecting a natural park nestled between mountains.
Emergency Measures:
Civil Protection forces have implemented shelter-in-place orders for 1,900+ residents across seven nearby towns
Approximately 50 individuals have been evacuated for their safety
250 firefighters are battling the blaze amid challenging conditions
Several major roads near the fire zone have been closed
In a related incident, regional authorities confirmed another fire in Lleida province (Catalonia) burned 35 hectares of agricultural land before being contained after 10 hours.
