The French president is making a state visit to Britain today..

The French presidency announced that President Emmanuel Macron will make a state visit to the United Kingdom on Tuesday, in response to an invitation from the British monarch, King Charles III.

In a statement, the presidency noted that this visit marks the first of its kind to the UK by a leader from the European Union since Britain's withdrawal from the bloc (Brexit) and comes in the context of the long-standing and robust historical ties between the two countries.

The statement added that the visit, which will last until next Thursday, is expected to enhance bilateral cooperation in several areas of mutual interest, including defense, security, energy, culture, space, and artificial intelligence, as well as boosting economic exchanges.

It further stated that the visit aims to highlight the alignment between France and Britain on international issues, particularly their support for Ukraine.

On the occasion of this visit, the French president will co-chair the 37th Franco-British Summit alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where they will discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and coordinate on regional and international developments.
