Stretching approximately two kilometers alongside a perennial water stream, the "River Trail" (Darb al-Nahr) in the town of Jahiliya, Mount Lebanon Governorate, stands as one of the most prominent eco-destinations for hiking enthusiasts. The trail winds through varying elevations amidst dense tree cover within a pristine natural environment untouched by modern urban development.
The creation of this trail was part of local initiatives aimed at promoting ecotourism. Pathways were paved, wooden bridges were installed over the river, and certain areas were reinforced with stones to facilitate crossing - offering visitors an immersive experience that fosters direct connection with nature's elements, from the sound of flowing water to the murmur of cascading waterfalls.
The route features several natural deep pools that attract swimmers and adventure seekers. Along its edges, simple cafés and facilities serving traditional local foods have been established, adding a social and touristic dimension that complements the unique geographical character of the town, which sits at an elevation of 600 meters above sea level.
