The 13th meeting of the Arab Tourism Technical Committee, chaired by Bahrain, began today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in preparation for the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, which will be held during the first half of December 2025. In his speech during the two-day meeting, Bahjat Aboul Nasr, Director of Transportation and Tourism at the Arab League, stressed the importance of strengthening Arab cooperation in the field of tourism and exchanging experiences and expertise among member states in the field of tourism sector regulation and activating joint tourism packages for Arab countries. He said that the committee will discuss ways to enhance economic intelligence capabilities in tourism, the Arab tourism strategy, the implementation of the sixth axis on “keeping pace with changes in the global tourism industry,” the Arab cooperation agreement in the tourism sector, tourism innovation, and smart tourism. Aboul Nasr added that the committee will also discuss cooperation between Arab countries in combating illicit trafficking in cultural property, integration between tourism and cultural heritage in Arab countries, and the inclusiveness of contemporary Arab tourist destinations. He mentioned that the meeting will review an item on climate change and its impact on the Arab tourism sector, integration in the operation of geological parks with the Arab Gulf states, and the date and venue of the 14th meeting of the committee. It is worth noting that the recommendations issued by the Arab Tourism Technical Committee are submitted to the Executive Office and then to the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism at its next session (December 2025) for consideration and implementation.
