Jasem Al-Budaiawi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that Sunday's direct U.S. military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities would escalate tensions and threaten regional security and stability.
In an official statement, Al-Budaiawi noted that the GCC reaffirms the principles outlined in the communiqué issued during last Monday's 48th extraordinary meeting of the Ministerial Council regarding regional developments, which condemned all actions threatening the region's security and stability.
The statement emphasized the urgent need for:
An immediate ceasefire
Concerted efforts by all parties to de-escalate tensions
Prioritizing diplomatic solutions to resolve conflicts
Exercising maximum restraint
Protecting the region and its people from the dangers of war
