The United Nations has voiced grave concern over repeated shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeting World Food Programme (WFP) facilities in El Fasher, Sudan.
At a press briefing yesterday evening at UN headquarters, spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stressed the imperative to protect humanitarian personnel, operations, and supplies. He confirmed that while no WFP staff were injured in the attacks, hostilities must cease immediately – particularly in Sudan where over three million children suffer from acute malnutrition.
Dujarric highlighted WFP teams' tireless efforts to scale up food assistance, currently reaching seven million people monthly, with priority given to communities facing or at risk of famine.
