The Japanese Ambassador to Kuwait, Morikawa Kenichiro, expressed on Saturday his country's deep appreciation for the successful visit of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Japan, during which both nations agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

In a statement received by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Ambassador Kenichiro said: "I am pleased to express our honor at His Highness's successful visit to Japan... where he met with His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Crown Prince Fumihito, and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba... The two countries agreed to elevate our bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership level."

The Ambassador noted that the Crown Prince's visit witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of cooperation, reflecting both nations' determination to enhance bilateral cooperation across vital fields. He highlighted:

• A diplomatic training MoU between Japanese and Kuwaiti foreign ministries

• A comprehensive cooperation agreement in electricity, water and renewable energy

• An investment promotion MoU between JETRO and Kuwait's Direct Investment Promotion Authority

"We are optimistic this visit and its outcomes will strengthen bonds of friendship and cooperation," the Ambassador stated, adding that Japan looks forward to continuing work with Kuwait to enhance relations at all levels.

During his official visit (May 28-31), His Highness also toured Expo 2025 Osaka, visiting pavilions of host nation Japan, GCC countries, and Kuwait. The Crown Prince expressed admiration for the exhibits, praising organizers for presenting Kuwait's distinguished regional and international standing.
