The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) announced on Tuesday the winners of the 2024 Ibn Khaldun Prize in Humanities and Social Sciences.

According to Tunisian News Agency, Tunisian writer Moncef Mehalla, Moroccan writer Mehdi Quirat, and Korean writer Karima Kim won this globally prestigious award.

The agency quoted Tunisian Minister of Culture Amina Srarfi stating that the Ibn Khaldun Prize is one of the most prominent awards honoring researchers in humanities and social sciences, as well as intellectuals with serious scholarly contributions during these times of increasing intellectual and existential challenges.

She clarified that the award aims to promote scientific dialogue between the northern and southern Mediterranean, "in line with the mission of the ICESCO Ibn Khaldun Chair to disseminate knowledge and enhance Arab-Islamic intellectual heritage."

It's worth noting that the Ibn Khaldun Prize is organized annually by ICESCO in cooperation with the Mediterranean Association (MAD21).
